Xiropotamou climbing area – Rappel

The Xiropotamos climbing field is located on the southern side of Falakrou mountain, in the ravine “DOUBARI REMA” which is located above the industrial area of Drama. It is 10 km from the city of Drama shortly after the exit from the village of Xiropotamos. At about the middle of the distance there is a signposted right fork that leads to the climbing field in 800 m. The field is suitable for both climbing and rappelling.

Rappel is the technique of descending from a cliff. The distance of the descent is 12-17 meters in a natural landscape and the time of the action can be 3 hours with breaks. The difficulty level is moderate and all ages can participate. It is good to have meals, snacks, drinks, soft drinks, water with you. As well as the necessary equipment, such as helmet, ropes, harnesses, climbing shoes, jackets and anything else you think can make your route more enjoyable!

If you decide to do the activity with a professional guide, your package includes the guidance of an experienced competitive climbing coach-gymnast, insurance for the top-rope climbers, the complete equipment you will need (helmet, ropes, harness, climbing shoes).

The climbing field of Xiropotamos is accessible by vehicle, it is suitable for a family route, the rock is limestone and it has 16 climbing routes rated from IV+VIII.
